Political Cornflakes: Obama alumni return to Washington as House freshmen to preserve his legacy

Nearly a dozen members of the House of Representatives’ incoming class are far from gawky freshmen. They’re experienced policymakers who have worked in previous presidential administrations — seven of them for former President Barack Obama. And they see their return to Washington, in part, as a way to preserve his legacy. “This election is not about changing the country,” said Tom Malinowski, a Representative-elect in New Jersey who served under Obama as assistant secretary of state for democracy, human rights and labor. “It’s about saving the country.” [NYTimes]

Topping the news: Republican Rep. Mia Love officially conceded to Democrat Ben McAdams on Saturday, acknowledging his victory in their tight race for Utah’s 4th Congressional District.
