Mitt Romney talks public lands, marijuana, national debt and his support for the Senate filibuster during visits to Utah Legislature

Sen. Mitt Romney, R-Utah, told members of the Utah Legislature that he’s been surprised at the lack of formal communication between the two major parties in Washington, D.C., but also at the respect and congeniality between individual members of Congress.

“I found getting along is a pleasure on a personal basis,” Romney said, “even though we disagree from time to time, obviously.”

In a series of visits Thursday to Utah’s Republican and Democratic caucuses, the freshman senator focused on the need for bipartisanship in the U.S. Senate, where procedural rules require a larger-than-majority vote to advance legislation.
