Man killed in Washington County while making a homemade explosive device

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office issued a news release Sunday that reported a man died Friday night in the town of New Harmony while making a homemade explosive device.

A man who witnessed the explosion said he and the victim had gone to a farm property on the 400 North block of Harmony Drive to care for horses. After completing their work, the man says the victim asked him to come to a garage area where he was working on the explosive device. When the witness turned to walk away, the device detonated, killing the man who was working on it, the release states.
