Letter: Utah lawmakers are trying to slip a tax plan by us

Proponents of a special legislative session want lawmakers to rush back to Salt Lake City to pass a nearly 200-page tax bill that would include a decrease in state revenue, but also multiple tax hikes making everyday products such as gasoline and groceries more expensive.

It’s almost as if lawmakers are trying to slip this past us while most Utahns are distracted by the holiday season.

Instead of ramming through a tax bill while no one is looking, lawmakers should proceed through the normal legislative process. Then we can all weigh in with our opinions.
