BYU announced Wednesday that Lee Cummard has been hired as an assistant coach for the school's men's basketball program.

BYU men's basketball coach Dave Rose has filled the open assistant coaching spot on his staff, hiring Lee Cummard to replace Heath Schroyer, the school announced Wednesday.

Cummard spent the past two seasons as a graduate assistant on the Cougars' coaching staff. Schroyer, after one year in his return to the school, was hired as the head coach at McNeese State last month.

"Lee is a winner," Rose said in a statement.
