For those who haven't been properly introduced, meet Austin Goosby. Goosby is a combo guard standing at 6-foot-5 out of Melissa, Texas, and has had the attention of BYU basketball for quite some time now. A talent straddling the 4-star, 5-star line, he's a top-30 player in the 2026 class per 247 Sports' composite ranking.
On top of all that, he's notably a member of BYU's sponsor religion, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
For years, BYU was forced to make the most of local LDS talent due to the university's strict code of conduct and spotty basketball history, filling in the gaps with any non-LDS players willing to abide by those same guidelines.
