PROVO — On a night when leading scorers Elijah Bryant and Yoeli Childs weren’t turning in their usual prolific production, TJ Haws and Jahshire Hardnett came to the rescue for BYU.
Haws tied his season-high with 24 points, and Hardnett scored a career-high 17 points in the Cougars’ 74-58 victory over San Diego Saturday night at the Marriott Center in front of a crowd of 13,449.
When the Toreros took a 38-37 lead in the second half, Haws drilled a 3-pointer to give BYU a lead it would not relinquish. In fact, from that point on, the Cougars outscored USD 31-15 over the final 11 minutes.
