Good boy! Big dog rescued from canyon by first responders

First responders rescued an injured, 190-pound, 3-year-old from Grandeur Peak in Millcreek Canyon on Sunday — an injured, 190-pound, 3-year-old dog, that is.

The Salt Lake County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue team was alerted about 6:30 p.m. that Floyd, a mastiff, was hurt while walking on the trail with his owner. The owner was unable to carry the large canine to safety, so the team “went into action and headed up the trail to make sure Floyd could get off the mountain … before it got too cold,” according to a Facebook post.
