Ex-UNLV coach Dave Rice — a former Utah State and BYU assistant — is among USU’s targets for vacancy

The timing could be helpful to Utah State. Washington assistant coach Dave Rice is high on USU’s list of potential replacements for Tim Duryea, sources in Logan said.

Mark Fox, recently fired after nine years as Georgia’s coach, and longtime Gonzaga assistant Tommy Lloyd also are believed to be among the coaches considered by USU athletic director John Hartwell.

Hartwell is said to have scheduled as many as five interviews for the position after firing Duryea on March 12 following three seasons as the Aggies coach. He told KVNU Radio that fans “would be blown away by the people who have expressed interest in our job.
