New Orleans • Jazz rookie star Donovan Mitchell has been named to the NBA’s dunk contest on all-star weekend as a replacement for the Orlando Magic’s Aaron Gordon.
Mitchell received the call on Sunday night. Because he’s now in the dunk competition, he will no longer participate in the skills challenge.
“When I found out, I was excited,” Mitchell said. “I have a couple of ideas. I’ve been googling YouTube and watching old dunk contests. I’m definitely excited to participate.”
