Cole Hagen’s four touchdown passes and two key defensive plays by Andrew McDonald helped Corner Canyon take a 31-14 victory over Skyridge for the Class 5A state championship Friday night at Rice-Eccles Stadium.

In a semifinal game last November, Corner Canyon lost a 19-point lead, with Skyridge rallying for a 34-33 win.

Skyridge showed signs of mounting another comeback Friday, getting within 24-14 and driving to the Chargers' 2-yard line early in the fourth quarter. McDonald's fourth-down deflection stopped the threat, then Corner Canyon drove 98 yards to make it 31-14.

The Draper school's victory kept Utah County teams from sweeping the 4A, 5A and 6A titles.
