Chemical spill at Lagoon Amusement Park kills 100 fish in Farmington Creek

A chemical spill at Lagoon Amusement Park that leaked into Farmington Creek over the weekend killed more than 100 fish.

FOX 13 has reported that the incident occurred because of a leak in the line between a pump and a tank of sodium hypochlorite — a liquid bleach — possibly because of a broken tube connecting the two.

The spill area is not publicly accessible, and the spill did not affect humans.

While Davis County Health Department officials have not yet determined how much spilled, the tank holds up to 1,000 gallons and only a little was left in the bottom, Rachelle Blackham, the department’s environmental health director, told FOX 13.
