Former BYU Volleyball opposite hitter Gabi Garcia Fernandez has signed with A.S. Volley Lube in the Italian Superlega, the club announced on Monday.
The club is based in Treia, Italy and won the 2021 Italian Cup, it’s sixth championship in the competition. Former Cougar Taylor Sander was also a part of the team in the 2017-18 season.
Garcia Fernandez received many awards during his time at BYU, including being named the NCAA National Player of the Year in back-to-back seasons in 2020 and 2021. He holds BYU single-season ace record of 56, was a four-time All-American, and was key to the Cougars impressive 2020 and 2021 seasons.
