BYU's Childs named WCC Player of the Week

PROVO — BYU's Yoeli Childs nearly secured a triple-double during an 84-50 victory over Santa Clara on Saturday, and Monday, the sophomore forward was named West Coast Conference Player of the Week.

Childs scored 22 points, grabbed 13 rebounds and dished out a career-high eight assists, to go along with a pair of blocks, at Santa Clara — on his 20th birthday. He probably would have recorded the triple-double had coach Dave Rose kept him in the game during the final minutes.

"I sure would have loved for him to have stayed in there and get a couple of more assists,” Rose said.
