BYU to play Western Michigan in Famous Idaho Potato bowl

BYU is going bowling.

After a one year bowl hiatus, BYU will play Western Michigan of the Mid American Conference in the Famous Idaho Potato bowl. The game will be played in Boise State’s stadium December 21 at 4:00 EST on ESPN.

Western Michigan is 7-5 and finished tied for second in the western division of the MAC. They beat Northern Illinois 28-21 in their season finale; BYU, of course, lost to NIU 7-6.

WMU has a solid offense and iffy defense. An ankle injury to junior QB Jon Wassink forced freshman Kaleb Eleby into action for the last four games, and Eleby’s done an admirable job of filling in.
