PROVO — It took nearly a quarter for BYU to get going Saturday at LaVell Edwards Stadium, but the Cougars erupted in the second quarter to take a 24-3 halftime lead against Fresno State.
Defensive end Bronson Kaufusi played arguably the best half of his Cougar career on Senior Day, registering four total tackles, three tackles for loss, two sacks and a blocked field goal.
The Cougar offense came out stagnant, punting on its first three drives — with only one first down earned in that span. Fresno State put the first points onto the scoreboard with a field goal nine minutes into the game, and BYU kicker Trevor Samson (a Fresno, California, native) added one of his own on the ensuing possession.
