NATIONAL CHAMPIONS!!
That’s right, coming off the back of a second place finish last year, the men’s cross country team won its first ever national championship at the NCAA Championships in Indiana on Saturday!
To make things better, the women’s team finished second at the national championships, capping off another excellent season for the Cougars.
The women raced first, with the Cougars only placing 6 points behind winners Arkansas. Courtney Wayment, Erica Birk-Jarvis and Whittni Orton went 5-6-7 to lead the Cougars, but it wasn’t enough to finish ahead of the Razorbacks.
BYU’s results in the women’s race were as follows:
5 Courtney Wayment
6 Erica Birk-Jarvis
7 Whittni Orton
56 Olivia Hoj
60 Anna Camp
109 Anastaysia Davis
160 Sara Musselman
The men were excellent, and won handily over defending champions NAU.
