PROVO — Entering the final two weeks of the regular season, BYU sits in third place in the West Coast Conference standings.
The Cougars (19-8, 10-4) trail first-place Gonzaga (20-6, 12-2) and second-place Saint Mary’s (20-4, 11-3) and are ahead of fourth-place Pepperdine (16-10, 9-6).
The WCC tournament tips off March 3 at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas. If the tournament started today, BYU would be the No. 3 seed and would meet No. 6 seed Santa Clara in the WCC quarterfinals.
Only nine of the league’s 10 teams will participate in the tournament because Pacific is withholding its men’s team from playing in the postseason as part of a joint investigation with the NCAA over academic misconduct.
