Provo • BYU kept visiting Texas Southern winless on Saturday night with a 73-52 victory at the Marriott Center, but it wasn’t as easy as it probably should have been.
Playing uninspired basketball after a week of final exams, the Cougars finally got it together in the second half and won their eighth straight game to improve to 11-2. Texas Southern fell to 0-13 while playing its 13th straight road game and without leading scorer Trae Jefferson, whose father was killed earlier in the week.
BYU led just 31-28 at halftime and just 50-43 with 10 minutes left in the game before pulling away.
