BYU football to honor LaVell Edwards with uniform patch in 2017

Well done, BYU.

Among the many things announced at BYU football media day Friday, the school announced the addition of a new jersey patch for the 2017 season.

It’s a vintage silhouette of LaVell Edwards and the word LAVELL, honoring the late BYU legend who died in December.

Edwards turned BYU football from a mediocre program to a national mainstay, winning a national championship and 19 conference titles in his 29 seasons as head coach. He is the 7th winningest coach in FBS history with 257 wins, and revolutionized football with his passing scheme.
