The BYU football program earlier this year got a big commitment from an Arizona prep quarterback, and Wednesday it got a tight end from Arizona to be his target.
Carter Wheat of Mesa Red Mountain, the son of former BYU lineman Warren Wheat, committed to the Cougars on Wednesday, according to the Arizona Republic. BYU first offered him a scholarship on Tuesday.
Warren Wheat was an offensive lineman for BYU from 1985-88. He was drafted by the Los Angeles Rams and played three seasons with the Seattle Seahawks.
Carter Wheat is 6-foot-4 and 228 pounds. He was one of the participants in a BYU football camp this past weekend.
