PASADENA, Calif. — No. 19 BYU has made an early touchdown lead stand, taking a 10-3 advantage into halftime against No. 10 UCLA at the Rose Bowl on Saturday night.
BYU struck first in the game, taking its opening possession 71 yards on 11 plays for a touchdown. Adam Hine capped the 4:06 drive with a seven-run touchdown run.
The Cougars had the opportunity to add to that lead, as Michael Davis recovered a Jonny Linehan onside kick on the ensuing kickoff. But UCLA stood tall and forced a BYU punt.
The Bruins got on the board early in the second quarter, as a 57-yard drive ended with a 35-yard field goal from Ka'imi Fairbairn to cut its deficit to 7-3.
