BYU football: Freshman kicker Jake Oldroyd introduces himself in spectacular fashion as Cougars win, 18-16

"I think I got two reps for field goal and team this whole week," he said. "But when I get them, I make them count."

Oldroyd started at Texas power Southlake Carroll — the same school that produced former BYU receiver McKay Jacobson — for two years, then walked on at BYU this summer.

He suffered a torn meniscus and sprained MCL the fourth day of camp, however, and didn't get back until this week

Oldroyd was told that he would kick the next field goal after starting place-kicker Rhett Almond barely made a chip shot in the second quarter and missed a PAT eight minutes later.
