BYU football: Eric Mateos hired as offensive line coach

PROVO — BYU announced Thursday that the football team has hired former Texas State offensive line coach Eric Mateos for the same role with the Cougars.

Mateos started his coaching career as an assistant offensive line coach at Southwest Baptist before coaching stints at junior college powerhouse Hutchinson Community College and the SEC's Arkansas. He later took a job at LSU as a graduate assistant. He was later promoted to tight ends coach before leading the Bobcats' offensive line for the last two seasons.

“Eric is a great person with quality character that will fit in phenomenally with our players and staff,” BYU offensive coordinator Jeff Grimes said.
