BYU basketball: Seldom-used sophomore guard Cory Calvert leaving program

A native of Parker, Colo., BYU sophomore Cory Calvert was looking forward to facing Colorado last Saturday in Boulder.

But Calvert played only a few seconds in the waning moments of an eventual 92-83 loss to the Buffaloes, and on Monday he announced he is leaving the BYU basketball program.

"I am really appreciative of my time here at BYU," Calvert said in a school news release. "I'm grateful for the support from my coaches, teammates and our fans. I wish BYU the best of luck the rest of this season."

A 6-foot-3 guard, Calvert appeared in five games this season and scored five points and grabbed five rebounds.
