BYU basketball: Cougars promote Lee Cummard to assistant coach

BYU basketball has finalized its bench coaching staff by promoting Lee Cummard to assistant coach, the school announced Wednesday.

Cummard, a former player for head coach Dave Rose, has been a graduate assistant for the team since 2016.

He replaces Heath Schroyer, who was lead assistant for the 2017-18 season before taking the head coaching position at McNeese State this offseason.

“Lee is a winner,” Rose said in a news release from the school. “He’s been a winner everywhere he’s been, as a player and a coach. The leadership and drive he had as a player will help him be successful as he continues on in his coaching career.
