One defensive lapse, a snafu on an inbounds pass and a missed 3-pointer at the buzzer at the end cost the Utah women’s basketball team on Sunday against Arizona State.
But after the 83-81 loss to the Sun Devils, the Utes couldn’t help but look back at the beginning of the contest, when Arizona State jumped out to a 15-point lead at the end of the first quarter.
Although Utah (10-3, 1-1) fought back into contention, the start was a sticking point for Utes coach Lynne Roberts.
“We’ve got to mature as a team. You can’t wait like eight minutes to be, ‘Okay, now we’re going to start focusing on the game plan,’” Roberts said.
