PROVO — BYU rallied from seven points down in the final minute of regulation and trailing four points in an extra session as the Cougars beat San Francisco 75-73 in overtime Saturday afternoon at the Marriott Center.
Turning point I: USF guard Souley Boum was called with a reach-in foul with 4.3 seconds left to play in overtime. BYU's TJ Haws stepped to the line and hit both free throws to give the Cougars a 75-73 lead, and the Dons' Frankie Ferrari couldn't hit a 3-pointer to win it for San Francisco.
Turning point II: The Cougars trailed 61-54 going into the final minute of play, but Haws hit a 3-pointer with 44 seconds remaining to make it a two-possession game.
