2020 arrives in northern Utah with snow

In California, the Rose Parade is winding through Pasadena. At Cotton Bowl Stadium in Dallas, the National Hockey League is preparing to play a game in the sunshine.

In Salt Lake City on Wednesday, people are shoveling. If they can stomp their snow boots to a hill, they can sled down it.

The new decade blew into northern Utah on Wednesday carrying 2 to 6 inches of snow in the valleys. The National Weather Service says the totals could be higher than that on benches; the mountains could receive up to 20 inches.

The flakes fell before sunrise and are predicted to drop throughout the morning.
