BYUs coaching search ended with a little irony. Athletic director Rondo Fehlberg said, The guy who put me on to Steve Cleveland was Roger Reid.

It was a bold move to hire someone with no Division I experience with names like Jeff Judkins, Jim Harrick, Ken Wagner, Ken Trenkle and interim coach Tony Ingle getting more attention.

Cleveland wound up with a 138-108 record in eight seasons with the Cougars, who made three trips to the NCAA Tournament and tied for the Mountain West regular-season crown twice after a rebuilding process.
