INDIANAPOLIS – Coach Shaka Smart will try to build on his 2-1 record against Butler when he brings the 19th-ranked Marquette Golden Eagles to Hinkle Fieldhouse for Saturday’s Big East basketball game (4:30 p.m., FS1).
As VCU coach, Smart lost to Butler 70-62 in a 2011 Final Four semifinal and won 84-52 in a 2013 Atlantic 10 game. In November 2017, Smart’s Texas team beat Butler 61-48 in a tournament at Portland, Ore.

Since joining the Big East, Marquette is 2-6 at Indianapolis but has won five of the past six meetings overall.
