Top Butler basketball assistant coach Jeff Meyer retires

INDIANAPOLIS – Jeff Meyer, who formed a close relationship with LaVall Jordan and left Michigan to join the Butler coach’s staff, has announced his retirement.

Meyer, 66, cited family considerations and COVID-19 concerns. He is not sick, according to a school spokesman.

Basketball analyst Will Vergollo was promoted to assistant coach on an interim basis to fill the vacated position.

“Although the timing is not ideal, I am confident that Coach Vall and his leadership team will move forward The Butler Way,” Meyer said in a statement released by the university. “Coach Vall has been amazing to my family and me.
