Slipping away? Butler testing the bubble with loss to last-place St. John's

St. John’s lost to Butler by 25 points in Hinkle Fieldhouse. St. John’s was without star Shamorie Ponds. St. John’s trailed by five with 12 seconds left.

So naturally, St. John’s beat Butler 75-68 in double overtime Wednesday night at New York’s Carnesecca Arena.

That’s college basketball in 2018.

The Red Storm closed the second OT on a 9-0 run against the Bulldogs, who looked nothing like the team coming off back-to-back blowout victories over Providence and Creighton.

Butler fell to 19-11 overall and 9-8 in the Big East. The Bulldogs are probably secure in making the NCAA tournament but would have clinched it with a victory.
