Simas Lukosius says he will stay at Butler after all: 'I'm back'

INDIANAPOLIS – One of the most important recruits of Thad Matta's second tenure as Butler basketball coach was on campus all along.

Lithuanian freshman Simas Lukoskis confirmed to IndyStar on Thursday he is withdrawing his name from the transfer portal. He also posted "I'M BACK" on Instagram.

Jeff Goodman of Stadium first reported the news.

Indiana University was among the schools pursuing Lukosius. The likelihood of him staying at Butler improved with retention of assistant David Ragland on Matta’s staff.

Ragland was primarily responsible for recruiting Lukosius and one-time Butler signee Connor Turnbull. The 6-10 Turnbull, who reopened his recruitment, has scheduled a Friday visit to Butler.
