Shooting woes derail offense as Butler drops home game to Providence

INDIANAPOLIS – The Providence Friars remain Butler’s kryptonite.

Luwane Pipkins sank six consecutive free throws in the closing 27 seconds to cap a 22-point game, and Providence upset the 17th-ranked Bulldogs 65-61 Saturday in Big East basketball at Hinkle Fieldhouse.

Providence raised its Indianapolis record to 5-2 and has never been swept by the Bulldogs in the same season.

Pipkins was 4-of-9 on 3-pointers and 10-of-10 on free throws.

Butler was 1-of-14 on 3s, missing its last 13.
