Roosevelt Jones' triple-double leads Butler rout over St. John's

Roosevelt Jones became the first Butler player in 32 years to post a triple-double, and the Bulldogs made a season-high 12 3-pointers in crushing St. John’s 89-56 Saturday in Big East basketball at New York’s Carnesecca Arena.

Jones had 10 points, a career-high 14 rebounds and 10 assists. The last Bulldog with a triple-double was Tim McRoberts, who had 33 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists against Oral Roberts on Feb. 20, 1984.

Kelan Martin led the Bulldogs with 18 points, giving him 80 over three games.

Jordan Gathers came off the bench to score 16 points, his most as a Butler player.
