INDIANAPOLIS – Butler has redirected its search for a point guard to Aaron Thompson, a high school senior who was released from a commitment to Pittsburgh.

The 6-2 Thompson, of Paul VI Catholic in Fairfax, Va., is to visit Butler on Thursday.

A previously scheduled Butler visit, by graduate transfer Casey Benson of Oregon, has been canceled. Benson, of Tempe, Ariz., is expected to choose Grand Canyon, a Phoenix university where his brother, T.J., is an assistant coach.

Thompson is not in the top 150 of the 2017 class by Rivals or Scout but is ranked 169th by 247 Sports.
