INDIANAPOLIS – It was a year ago that Joe Brunk was hospitalized in Las Vegas with a brain tumor.
His oldest son, Joey, who had started college at Butler, rushed to Nevada. Joey was at his father’s side then, and for most of the next six months. Their shared love for basketball was superseded by love for each other.
Joey went on to miss campus activities, practices, travel, games. He will forever miss his father, who died April 15 at age 56. But to hear Joey tell it, he never missed anything important.
