Lessons learned as Butler defeats Cincinnati

INDIANAPOLIS – Butler’s Bulldogs learned a valuable basketball lesson in Terre Haute ahead of next week’s final exams.

The No. 15 Bulldogs bounced back from their first defeat, using Kelan Martin’s 20 points and lockdown defense to beat No. 23 Cincinnati 75-65 before a sellout crowd of 9,176 Saturday at Hinkle Fieldhouse.

Butler limited Cincinnati to 36 percent shooting in the second half. It was the Bulldogs’ 34th consecutive nonleague home victory.

Butler (9-1), after a 72-71 loss Wednesday at Indiana State, is sure to remain in the Top 25 before next Saturday’s Crossroads Classic game against No.
