LaVall Jordan urges Butler Bulldogs to be inspired by Martin Luther King Jr.

INDIANAPOLIS – On Martin Luther King Jr. Day, LaVall Jordan asked Butler basketball players to be as mindful about the civil rights leader as they are about the next game.

The coach has encouraged the Bulldogs to have a purpose beyond basketball.

“What’s bigger than a trophy? Say we get to a Final Four here,” Jordan told them after a recent game. “What’s going to be bigger than that for you personally, for this team? When you have a larger purpose, you play inspired. One of the things that they said was to inspire other people.”

Winning is a part of that, Jordan said.
