LaVall Jordan makes first public statement after Butler basketball firing

INDIANAPOLIS – In his first public comments since he was fired as Butler basketball coach, LaVall Jordan thanked his coaches and their families, players and their parents, and listed achievements in a Twitter post.

Missing was any reference to athletic director Barry Collier, who recruited Jordan as a player, coached him, hired him and fired him.

In an open letter Saturday signed “Coach Val,” Jordan posted:

“I am proud that during our tenure we were able to: advance in the NCAA tournament; advance in the Big East tournament three out of four years; help players go on to play professionally, with two of them achieving their NBA dream; and most importantly help student-athletes earn college degrees, both undergraduate and graduate.
