INDIANAPOLIS – Kamar Baldwin has not scored a point nor collected a rebound in college basketball. Nor has he committed any turnovers, as he will as he learns to play the point.
But the 6-foot guard is picking up Butler’s defense as quickly as any freshman ever has, according to longtime Bulldogs staffers. And he is doing things coaches can never teach. Butler’s Chris Holtmann has already called Baldwin the most athletic player he has ever coached.
“He’s done a few things that made me shake my head or really say, ‘Wow,’ ” transfer guard Avery Woodson said Wednesday at Butler’s media day.
