DETROIT – Butler University does not have the endowment of state universities, nor even that of other private colleges. It lacks the alumni bases and legislative advocates that those schools have.

What Butler has is March basketball.

No matter what the Hoosiers, Tar Heels, Jayhawks or Big Blue do in an NCAA tournament, those universities will thrive. What the Bulldogs do . . . well, it means more.
