Insider: So far, 2020 freshmen measuring up to those from 2008 at Butler

INDIANAPOLIS – Butler could play college basketball into the 22nd century and not assemble a recruiting class to match that of 2008.

Butler, then in the Horizon League, brought in Gordon Hayward and Shelvin Mack, both future NBA players; Ronald Nored, a two-time league defensive player of the year and the Bulldogs’ all-time assists leader, plus Chase Stigall, Garrett Butcher and Emerson Kampen.

Much went into back-to-back runs to NCAA championship games in 2010 and 2011. Yet it all starts with recruiting.

That’s why it is worth quantifying how the 2020 class stacks up to 2008.
