INDIANAPOLIS – Butler shot 53 percent. Five Butler players scored in double figures. A Pendleton Heights marksman was 3-of-4 on 3-pointers.
All that is cool. Wonderful, in fact. But the Bulldogs often performed that way last basketball season, too, and often that wasn’t adequate.
The numbers that mattered in Saturday night’s 77-50 victory over Saginaw Valley State are these:
>> Saginaw Valley barely made it to 50.
>> Saginaw Valley shot 25 percent (6-of-24) in the second half.
>> Saginaw Valley shot 23 percent (5-of-22) on 3s.
