Gordon Hayward has a timetable to return to basketball

A return to the basketball court is in sight for Gordon Hayward.

The former Brownsburg and Butler star had surgery Wednesday to remove a plate a screws from his left leg, according to Celtics.com.

The plate and screws were necessary after the Boston swingman suffered a severely broken leg just 5 minutes his Celtics debut Oct. 17.

The release said Hayward could return to basketball activities in six to eight weeks, and he is expected to be at full strength for training camp.

Hayward joined the Celtics as a free agent last summer after seven seasons with the Utah Jazz, the last season resulting in his first All-Star Game berth.
