INDIANAPOLIS — Throughout the 2000s, Butler has made its basketball reputation in March. That changes this season.

The Bulldogs need a collection of Mr. Octobers.

Six of 11 scholarship players will be representing Butler for the first time: transfers Kethan Savage and Avery Woodson, freshmen Kamar Baldwin, Joey Brunk and Henry Baddley, and redshirt freshman Sean McDermott.

For March to matter, this month is “critical,” coach Chris Holtmann said. The Bulldogs had two workouts at Hinkle Fieldhouse on the first formal day of practice Saturday.
