First six Big East games could be revealing for Butler basketball

INDIANAPOLIS – Scheduling has given Butler at least a chance to start favorably in the upcoming Big East basketball season. Now it is up to the Bulldogs to capitalize.

Butler is entering its ninth year of membership in the Big East, which released its league schedule Thursday.

The Bulldogs are coming off a 10-15 season – their worst record in 28 years – and were 8-12 in the conference. They return 10 of their top 11 scorers, plus touted transfer Ty Groce of Eastern Michigan.

Preseason consensus is the Big East’s top three teams will be Villanova, Connecticut and Xavier.
