Despite past two losses, Butler could be awarded highest seed ever

NEW YORK – If there is anything Butler has proved in the NCAA basketball tournament, it is this: It matters how you play, not where you are seeded.

Since 2003, the Bulldogs have reached four Sweet 16s and two national championship games, and never have they been seeded among the top 16 overall. Never have they built a resume as strong as this year’s, either.

On this Selection Sunday, the NCAA committee could award Butler a No. 4 seed, which would be its highest ever. Although the Bulldogs (23-8) are coming off successive losses, the consensus of more than 100 mock brackets places them as a No.
