Coming closer on road is better for Butler, but still not good enough

Bulldogs fall 76-75 at Seton Hall Indianapolis Star

NEWARK, N.J. – This could be construed as progress. After all, in the Butler Bulldogs’ two previous games on opponents’ courts, they fell behind by 15 and 37 points.

Joey Brunk looked like a big-time big man, collecting career highs of 20 points and 10 rebounds. Kamar Baldwin is keeping the circus alive even after Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey quit.

“That is a special young player everyone is watching,” Seton Hall coach Kevin Willard said of Baldwin.

Still, metrics that measure whether a team makes or misses the NCAA basketball tournament do not reward close losses to good teams.
